In a survival game or a game like tlou, scarcity/durability mechanics make perfect sense and the rest of the game is balanced around it accordingly. In BOTW specifically, esp in the context of other mechanics, durability doesn't add anything to the game and is just a detriment to the player. Esp because its not in the context of resource scarcity.
