How to tell scav from pmc.

Chances on hitting friendly & experienced PMC as SCAV or SCAV as PMC are so low. I've been spamming Interchange as a SCAV and were shooting a 5-bullets series of shots (bang-bang-bangbangang) in the sky at Scav Lands. AI scavs always spawn in certain places around the map. They dont randomly walk around the map. AI will tend to walk around, aim their weapon and check their mags etc. They also run and come to an abrupt stop for no particular reason.

Player Scavs, once you get used to the AI scav behaviour, it helps differentiate. PMC's usually have heavier boot type footsteps as opposed to a scav who's gear weighs like 10kg. Player scavs sometimes mumble back.If a player scav gets gear off of a dead pmc then it gets really hard to tell theyre actually a scav. If you get killed by a player scav they will have two names in the kill screen with a triangular report button next to them. If you die to a regular scav there will be no triangular report button.

I used to main my scav, now I main my PMC. I've 100% noticed a shift in the community. I think it has to do with the boom of new players wanting to learn the ropes and experienced players wanting to just scav to earn money, because that's what a scav, imo, is mainly for. Also VOIP and CO-OP extracts actually incentivize playing together.

PMC characters will have a dogtag on their body, there is some customization they can make to their character after a higher level. That's after they are dead. Went to negatives, but slowly recovered. If the player is wearing some worn down but colorful clothes/ sneakers and such, they are scavs. If the player looks freshly shaved head/wears military clothes, they seem to be pmc. The trader ragman, you can see what kind of basic clothes pmcs can wear. At least for the pmc you chose.

The pants are usually the biggest difference. If they're wearing the yellow or white/red top it's easy to tell its a scav. I dont think any scav wears camo either. Not counting raiders/guards/rogues

For example pmcs don't wear fishing boots and sandals, nor do they typically wear kolpack helmets.
