There's lot of reading and essays, but his feedback makes it clear what he wants. He loves focusing on primary sources rather than secondary, so emphasizing primary sources on essays is a big plus with him. The material for the class is challenge and but Dan does a really good job teaching it. Take CS311 with him, you won't find a better teacher. The class is ok, but not a fan of the grading scale he uses. 25% homework, 35% Midterm, and 40% Final. It's a bit absurd weighing the tests so heavily. He states attendance is mandatory and has attendance quizzes but it is not a part of your grade. Lectures are long but contain good information. Professor Gallup is knowledgeable in his field.
