Honestly, the Subaru CVT is noisy. Even with the added transmission soundproofing cover (2014 +) you can still hear the metal mesh belt grind sound and some buzzing. I'm not a fan of CVT transmissions because they are quirky and noisy, I crossed them off my list when looking to buy a car. Mine is totally silent.

NO PROBLEM with ticking after shutdown. The world has had this same ticking with exhaust systems forever, but the Foz is worse because of the large number of heat shields on it.
