Registered. Joined Jan 4, 2021. 209 Posts. Discussion starter · #25 · Jul 26, 2021. So the 3 running now are in order of choice the CZ 457 Varmit MTR, Tikka T1x, and Ruger Precision Rimfire. The Ruger Precision in both its big and baby brothers does not seem to get much respect. Like.
In the running are: CZ MTR, CZ Precison Trainer, CZ Varmint, or possibly a Bergara BMR or B14R. I'm kind of leaning to CZ because of the aftermarket items available and the ability to switch out barrels easily. I would like to use my suppressor and I see that CZ's threaded barrels are 16.5" but the Bergara is 18". I would really prefer ...CZ 457 and Tikka T1X are probably your best Base Class options. Tikkas have weird magazines and the extensions can be super difficult (many people end up super gluing them onto the mags). CZ mags have been the same for a long time. It has a Timney Calvin Elite trigger but is otherwise bone stock. These targets were shot at 50 yards from a bench with SK Pistol Match Special cartridges. No experience on those, but I figure I will be the person to throw the CZ 457 into the ring. There are plenty of models to choose from, a huge aftermarket, and it's a quality, accurate rifle. They all have adjustable triggers and some of them have match chambers. It's frequently argued to be the best .22 bolt action for the money.

The T1X's always suffer from an ejection issue eventually due to the design and that little spring getting loose. The CZ 457 MTR is around $750 if you want to guarantee yourself a match barrel, otherwise the standard 457's are lottery barrels but they're never worse than a RPRR. The use of an aftermarket stock immediately places you in Open Class. The cost of a T1X plus the KRG is not that far off from a B14R barreled action plus KRG. My friend bought a cz 457 with a Bravo chassis, arca rail and mdt grnd bipod. I'm just going to keep my stock for now. I see people having magazine issues with the krg chassis.
