Jun 19, 2022 · The e609 Microphone is a guitar amplifier that needs to be placed somewhere close to the sound source for a desirable sound outcome. Sennheiser e609 has no distortion in the recording process. The response at high frequencies in e609 is less at 15kHz than in Pro e906 which is 18kHz.

The old black/gold version (MD409) has a huge reputation, but I don't think it deserves it. To me it sounds the same as an e906 in flat presence mode. The e609 to my ear sounds a lot like the e906 in boost presence mode. Anyway you look at it the e609 is a nice mic, but the e906 is better, if you can afford it. The graph suggests that the e606, especially when used for close-miking (such as laying its face against a speaker cab), would produce a much more scooped sound than the newer e906.
