It was my first Glock. I sold it when I couldn't buy 45acp and wanted to carry a gun with higher capacity, in 40S&W (due to availability), with a better grip texture, and capable of accepting a weaponlight. I had an opportunity to shoot the Shield 45 when it came out and it seemed fine, but the G36 was long gone so I couldn't make a comparison.
Both pistols feature a flat-face trigger. For the Shield Plus, the new trigger design was a welcomed upgrade from the Shield M2.0. Neither base model came with an optic-ready slide, but both have upgraded options available for those wishing to run an optic.. Lots of trainers don't allow the ported guns in their class nor suggest them for concealed carry, due to the ports throwing gas and debris which isn't good when in untraditional shooting positions. Shield Plus felt way better in my hands than the 43x, Hellcat or the P365.

Since we are talking about CA,I would say the comparison of Glock 19 vs M&P shield is not a fair one. A Glock 26 vs the shield would be a better comparison. Also a 19 in CA is limited to 10 rounds . With a good gun belt and a good holster, you should hardly see any difference between the Glock G19 and the Shield. As u/Big_Roach011 said, the significance will come between shooting the two guns. The Glock G19 is just a vastly superior firearm.The G19 is a compact, The G26 and G43 are both subcompact. The main difference is that the G43 is single stack and the G26 is double stack. The G43 is not as wide or as heavy as the G26, but it's also limited to 6 rounds stock, where the G26 holds 10 (or 12 with a slightly extended mag).
