I checked the list of TSB's and found that this issue seemed like the issue described in 15-050. I took a copy of the TSB to the dealer and the technician confirmed it to be the problem. Nov 5, 2017 · The big 'BRAKE' indicator is from the forward collision warning system. This flashes when that system senses something where it thinks you need to hit the brakes. From my experience with it (on a 2014 tech) it's fairly decent about not coming on when it shouldn't but it's not perfect.

The good news is that this is usually an easy fix. To check the fuse, you’ll need to locate the fuse box in the car (usually under the dashboard or hood) and find the fuse for the system.That's affectionately called the Christmas tree of warning lights (actually all of our CELs happen this way on this car), so you need a dealer or mechanic to read the codes to find out which system is really the problem.
