It just reduces voltage to the igniter to turn it on. If you have no power when the switch is turned on, start by checking voltage on the white wire at the switch, should be battery voltage.Start motorcycle and let sit and idle. 2. Normally, you can start in gear if the clutch is pulled in. There is a switch on the clutch handle that looks after this. Could be out of adjustment, dirty, no good, etc. Give it a looksee. If the engine has problems between 1/4 and 3/4 throttle, the jet needle and needle jet (most likely the jet needle) is likely the problem. If the engine is running poorly at 3/4 to full throttle, the main jet is the likely problem. Fingers are crossed - but at least after this I know I will have all of the carby puzzle pieces.

same problem as original post I have a 99 Vulcan Classic with 21,000 miles. Bike is stock except for Vance Hines exhaust. When bike is cold the clutch works fine. After about 15 minutes when the bike heats up the clutch starts to slip on acceleration. The hotter it gets the worse it slips. Then the clutch stops working completely.

1996 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic Problems. Where to begin. THe bike idles fine. When you give it gas, it starts to backfire and loses power. While riding, it runs fine at low RPM after you shift. Half way up through the gear though, it falls on its face. I know the back cylinder is where the problem is.
