I think of Cloudy Nights Forums as kind of an astronomy mall, anchored on one end by the Astronomics Store, and the Classifieds as a used astronomy equipment dealer with a rental program on the other end. It is a trap in hobbies to believe that you can buy something to "make do" now, sell it later, and buy what you really wanted, and come out ahead.
