The reason a VPN worked is possibly because of pure coincidence of lag not being an issue (it's been pretty cyclical), because traffic still has to go through NTT to get to FFXIV's server, or somehow the VPN managed to route the traffic through different nodes?I have to use VPN to bypass whatever throttling/caching/poor routing is going on to have a smooth experience. Your ISP tends to take a certain route through servers to get to the game servers, and if a key node in the route is clogged up it could result in that. I'm from the Faerie server on the Aether DC.
