The Mossberg is a decent gun for the money and you could do worse. Neither is a great choice for light target loads although the SBE II will cycle lighter field loads. Supernova Tactical vs. 590. On my list of guns to buy, I have a list of shotguns. Not many but a few. At the top of the list is currently a Mossberg 590. It's been at the top of that list for a while now but the other day I was browsing at the Army/Navy store in Whitehall and came across a Benelli. It was a black Supernova Tactical.The 500, 88, 590, and 590A1 all have the same aluminum receiver. The differences in a nut shell, the 88 uses a different trigger group with a crossbolt safety while the 500 has a tang safety. The 88 receiver is not drilled for scope rail. And the 88 uses a cheaper fore end with the action bars pinned to the fore end.

The fit and finish is excellent. The M4 has a free carrier that allows the chambered shell to be ejected while keeping a new shell from loading from the mag tube. That said, they're not priced the same. The M4 is 2.5X the price of the 930SPX and is not worth the extra money in my case. When the 935 shot it put out a great pattern but the Stoeger puts out great patterns also. Both were. great patterning guns in MY experience. Both felt good to me when I picked them up but the Stoeger runs ALOT. cleaner than the 935 and will go longer between cleanings.Personally I think the Nova has some advantages over the 500 (which have already been mentioned above).
