I didn't make much as a food runner. Working 3-4 days a week I made about $400-$600 on my biweekly paycheck. Of course the amount you get paid will vary with mine. I worked in a upscale ish restaurant. I think food running is a growth step until you gain more confidence to serve. Yeah, that’s more than fair. Just be polite but control the table in a way. You’re there to take their order and get them shit. If they start chit chatting with you, play along for like 30 seconds, but then just be like “you guys ready to order” “Take your time, I’ll come back in a couple of minutes”.
