It provides the rifle with a good bit of forward weight. This weight helps stabilize the rifle in the standing position, and honestly, the octagonal barrel just looks fantastic.The design of the LRBHO on the Stribog is a terrible design. I had the same issue with the A3 Tactical lower and the reason was because the area where the bolt catch lever engages the bolt was too tall.
